Panjab University's Dental Institute marks National Orthodontic Day with Oral Hygiene Drive and Expert Mentorship
The Department of Orthodontics at the Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital, Panjab University, celebrated National Orthodontic Day by organising a special oral health initiative alongside its ongoing Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) examinations.
Chandigarh, October 5, 2026: The Department of Orthodontics at the Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital, Panjab University, celebrated National Orthodontic Day by organising a special oral health initiative alongside its ongoing Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) examinations.
To mark the occasion, the department distributed free specialised oral hygiene kits to orthodontic patients visiting the institute. The distribution took place in the presence of visiting external MDS examiners, institutional faculty and resident doctors, highlighting the department’s commitment to patient care and clinical excellence.
During the event, the MDS examiners and senior faculty members - Dr. Deepak Kumar Gupta, Dr. Arun K. Garg and Dr. Litesh Singla engaged directly with orthodontic residents and patients, sharing crucial clinical insights and oral hygiene maintenance tips for Orthodontic residents and orthodontic patients respectively.
The experts emphasised the various key recommendations for patients undergoing orthodontic treatment like Meticulous oral hygiene, dietary care like avoiding hard, sticky and highly sugary foods. They also advised Patients to routine follow-ups like Adhering to regular appointment schedules ensures timely adjustments and optimal treatment progress.
Addressing the orthodontic residents, the examiners stressed the importance of comprehensive treatment planning, precise biomechanics and empathetic patient communication to achieve the best functional and aesthetic outcomes.
A special attraction of the celebration was the "Advice Wall", where students and faculty members shared their thoughts and advice on orthodontic treatment through colourful post-it notes.
