Prof Gurjaspreet Singh and Prof Shankar Sehgal Receive Top Honours at ICAMSE Researcher Awards 2026
Chandigarh, February 26, 2026: Prof Gurjaspreet Singh and Prof Shankar Sehgal were conferred the top honours at the Best ICAMSE Researcher Awards Ceremony 2026 held at Panjab University (PU), where 67 faculty members were recognised for their research publications in high-quality journals. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Renu Vig honoured the faculty members at a function organised at the Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan.
The Best ICAMSE E&S Researcher Award was conferred upon Prof Gurjaspreet Singh from the Department of Chemistry, Panjab University Campus. The Best ICAMSE ME Researcher Award was awarded to Prof Shankar Sehgal, Coordinator, Mechanical Engineering Department, UIET, Panjab University Campus. Cash awards of Rs15,000 each were presented to both awardees.
The awards were finalised after scrutiny of 72 applications. These were assessed on the basis of SCIe-indexed papers published during 2025, the Thomson Reuters Impact Factor of the journals and the author position in each publication.
Addressing the function, Prof Renu Vig said the University needs more such initiatives to advance innovation, encourage start-up culture and organise impactful academic conferences. She appreciated Team ICAMSE for recognising faculty contributions to quality research output.
The Guest of Honour, Director Research and Development Prof Meenakshi Goyal, said the awards would motivate faculty members to maintain high standards in research and publications.
The ceremony was coordinated by Prof Shankar Sehgal and Dr Parveen Goyal. Dr Parveen Goyal welcomed the gathering and referred to the progress achieved by the University in recent years. Prof Shankar Sehgal presented the ICAMSE journey, which began in 2020 during the COVID-19 period in a laboratory of the Mechanical Engineering Department, UIET, and has since evolved into an international academic platform attracting research contributions from authors in more than 35 countries.
The ceremony concluded with a brunch, where faculty members interacted and marked the achievements of the awardees.
