Panjab University UIFT & VD Organises Orientation Session for BSc 4th Year and MSc 1st Year

Chandigarh, September 2, 2026: The University Institute of Fashion Technology & Vocational Development UIFT & VD, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, held an Orientation Programme for newly admitted MSc. 1st Semester & BSc. 4th year students on 2nd September 2026 under the Chairperson Prof. Prabhdip Brar.
The Orientation program was coordinated by Dr. Ramandeep Bawa along with student coordinators Preetinder Kaur and Harmanjot Kaur. Welcome address was delivered by Prof. Prabhdip Brar, who encouraged students to make full use of academic and extracurricular opportunities at Panjab University. A brief introduction was shared by all faculty members, highlighting their area of expertise.
The interactive session started with former IAS officer, author and motivational speaker, Vivek Atray. He inspired students to embrace creativity, happiness and meaningful experiences, emphasising that creativity brings joy and that experiences are more valuable than material acquisitions. Sharing examples from the lives of inspiring personalities such as Mother Teresa and Athar Rash. Sharing his own journey, Mr. Atray spoke about leaving the IAS to pursue his creative passion as a motivational speaker, inspiring students to confidently follow their own path.
The second speaker, Sonam Nagpal, a fashion designer and alumna of the department, delivered a session on the topic “Beyond the Degree: How Creativity and Skills Work.” She shared her personal journey of becoming a fashion designer and spoke about the challenges she faced while pursuing her passion, especially coming from a strict family background. She emphasised that while a degree provides a strong foundation, creativity, practical skills, continuous learning and real-world experience are equally important for building a successful career.
The day concluded with students visiting the PU Central Library and University Museum as part of a guided campus tour to familiarise the students with the institutional facilities.
