Panjab University records sustained improvement in key parameters in THE World University Rankings 2027
Continuing its sustained performance in key indicators over the past four years in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, has been placed in the 701–800 band in the 2027 edition. After being in the 801–1000 band in 2023, the University was placed in the 601–800 band in 2024, 2025 and 2026.
Chandigarh, October 1, 2026: Continuing its sustained performance in key indicators over the past four years in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, has been placed in the 701–800 band in the 2027 edition. After being in the 801–1000 band in 2023, the University was placed in the 601–800 band in 2024, 2025 and 2026.
Director, IQAC, Prof. Sonal Singhal said the University had registered significant gains in Teaching and continued improvement in International Outlook. The University’s Teaching score increased to 39.2 in the THE World University Rankings 2027 from 38.2 in 2026, marking the fourth consecutive year of improvement from 32.6 in 2024. Its International Outlook score also increased to 25.6 in 2027 from 24.6 in 2026, 23.9 in 2025 and 23.5 in 2024.
Give details, Prof. Sonal Singhal informed that the Research Environment stood at 19.4 in 2027 compared with 19.6 in 2026, Research Quality at 68.5 compared with 71.2, and Industry Engagement at 45.8 compared with 48.3. Importantly, all three remained above their respective 2025 levels of 18.0, 65.6 and 41.6, she added.
Over the 2024–2027 period, PU’s Teaching score improved by 6.6 points, from 32.6 to 39.2. Research Environment increased from 16.2 in 2024 to 19.4 in 2027, while Industry Engagement rose from 39.2 to 45.8. International Outlook also improved from 23.5 to 25.6, she further added.
