Panjab University Organises Yuva Sansad 2026 at Department of Public Administration

The Department of Public Administration, Panjab University, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Electoral Literacy Club, today organised “Yuva Sansad 2026” (Mock Parliament), to mark National Voters’ Day and the forthcoming Republic Day.

Chandigarh, January 23, 2026: The Department of Public Administration, Panjab University, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Electoral Literacy Club, today organised “Yuva Sansad 2026” (Mock Parliament), to mark National Voters’ Day and the forthcoming Republic Day.

The programme aimed to familiarise students with parliamentary functioning while promoting constitutional values, democratic dialogue, electoral awareness, and responsible citizenship.

The event began with the administration of the Voters’ Pledge. More than 20 students took part in the Mock Parliament, assuming key parliamentary roles including the Speaker, Members of the Treasury Bench, Opposition Members, and Ministers.

The discussions addressed several contemporary and nationally relevant issues, including women and child development, agricultural reforms, National Education Policy 2020, transport and infrastructure, financial governance, and GST.

Prof. Vandana Arora, Chairperson, Department of Laws, PU, was the Chief Guest. In her address, she commended the initiative and emphasised the importance of constitutional literacy, democratic ethics, and respectful debate among the youth.

Prizes were awarded to outstanding performers, and certificates of participation were distributed to all student participants.
