Panjab University Organises Placement Sensitisation Session on Campus-to-Workplace Transition

Chandigarh, September 23, 2026: The Department of Public Administration, Panjab University, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Central Placement Cell, today organised a placement sensitisation session on “From Campus to Workplace: Aspirations and Challenges” in the Seminar Room of the Department.
 
Dr. Mohd. Sohail, Assistant Professor, Government Mohindra College, Patiala, and an alumnus of the Department of Public Administration, delivered the sensitisation talk. Drawing upon his own academic and professional journey, Dr. Sohail provided students with valuable insights into the transition from university life to the workplace and highlighted the aspirations and challenges associated with building a successful career.
 
Dr. Ravneet Kaur, Associate Director, Central Placement Cell, Panjab University, Chandigarh, apprised the students of various activities, placement initiatives, and workshops organised by the Central Placement Cell. She emphasised the important role of the Departmental Placement Coordinator and encouraged students to strengthen their soft skills. She advised students to actively engage with both the Departmental Placement Cell and the Central Placement Cell so that greater placement opportunities could be facilitated for them.
 
Interacting with the students, Dr. Mohd. Sohail shared valuable experiences from his journey as a student of the Department, a research scholar, and, subsequently, a faculty member at Government Mohindra College, Patiala. He emphasised the importance of developing leadership, communication, reading, and writing skills for academic and professional growth. He also highlighted the significance of hard work, networking, regular attendance, active participation in departmental activities, respect for teachers, and the cultivation of strong personal and professional values.
 
The session was followed by an interactive question-and-answer session, during which students sought guidance on teaching, research, and career development. Responding to their queries, Dr. Sohail emphasised that academic and professional success is a continuous journey requiring hard work, dedication, and commitment, with meaningful results emerging over the long term.
 
The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Bharati Garg, Placement Coordinator, Department of Public Administration, expressing her gratitude to Dr. Mohd. Sohail for sharing his experiences and delivering an inspiring and insightful session. She also thanked the research scholars and students for their enthusiastic participation.
