The National Service Scheme (NSS), Panjab University, Chandigarh, in collaboration with Boys Hostel No. 5, Panjab University, today organised a "Meditation & Mindfulness Session" on the theme "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan" at Boys Hostel No. 5.

Chandigarh, June 23, 2026: The National Service Scheme (NSS), Panjab University, Chandigarh, in collaboration with Boys Hostel No. 5, Panjab University, today organised a "Meditation & Mindfulness Session" on the theme "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan" at Boys Hostel No. 5.
The programme aimed to spread awareness about mental well-being, stress management, and the importance of adopting a drug-free lifestyle through meditation and mindfulness practices. The session carried the inspiring messages "Meditation Today, Addiction-Free Tomorrow" and "A Calm Mind Builds a Nasha Mukt Bharat."
The event was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including Prof. Namita Gupta, Dean Student Welfare (Women), Panjab University, Chandigarh; and Prof. Kashmir Singh, Associate Dean Student Welfare, Panjab University, Chandigarh, as distinguished guests.
The session was conducted by Prof. Ram Krishan Bhardwaj, Dean & HOD (FST), ICFAI University, Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, who served as the Resource Person. He emphasised the role of meditation in developing self-discipline, emotional balance, and resilience against substance abuse.
Addressing the participants, Prof. Namita Gupta, Dean Student Welfare (Women), highlighted the importance of meditation and mindfulness in developing a healthy lifestyle and encouraged students to adopt positive habits that contribute to a drug-free society.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Dr. Anupam Bahri, Programme Coordinator, NSS, Panjab University; Dr. Bharadwaj Bargai, Warden, Boys Hostel No. 5, Panjab University, Chandigarh; and Dr. Anuj Sharma, Warden, Boys Hostel No. 6, Panjab University, Chandigarh. NSS Programme Officers and volunteers actively participated in the successful conduct of the event.
The participants enthusiastically took part in the meditation exercises and pledged to support the vision of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan by promoting healthy habits and spreading awareness against drug abuse.
The event concluded with a collective pledge and the message: "Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Life."
