The Department of Biotechnology, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, has organised a five-day International Workshop on “Advances in Functional Genomics and Gene Editing” from September 14-18, under GIAN and RUSA 2.0, with the support of the Institution’s Innovation Council, Ministry of Education.

Chandigarh, September 16, 2026: The Department of Biotechnology, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, has organised a five-day International Workshop on “Advances in Functional Genomics and Gene Editing” from September 14-18, under GIAN and RUSA 2.0, with the support of the Institution’s Innovation Council, Ministry of Education.
The workshop focuses on emerging areas of functional genomics, computational biology, data science and CRISPR/Cas-based gene-editing technologies, with special emphasis on non-coding RNAs and their role in gene regulation.
PU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Meenakshi Goyal, Director, Research and Development Cell (RDC), PU, Prof. Savita Gupta and a number of experts from India and abroad, including Foreign Faculty from Centre for Advanced technologies, Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, Poland, Dr Dawid Bielewicz; Course Coordinator, Prof. Kashmir Singh and Prof. Jagtar Singh; RUSA Coordinator Prof. Ganga Ram Chaudhary and GIAN Coordinator, Prof. Gurjaspreet Singh addressed the workshop.
The workshop aims to promote advanced research training, international academic collaboration and innovation in the emerging fields of genomics and gene editing.
