Chandigarh, September 23, 2026: Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Centre for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (CSDE) PU, organised an expert lecture on Cybersecurity titled "Building Cyber Resilience: From Campus to Community."
The event commenced with opening remarks by Honorary Director of the CSDE, Prof. Suveera Gill, he emphasized the critical relevance of cyber hygiene in today's interconnected world. She highlighted that as professional spaces including healthcare and dental sciences increasingly migrate toward digital management systems, understanding data protection and threat mitigation has become an indispensable skill for the modern workforce. She reiterated CSDE's commitment to equipping students with practical, industry-grade skills alongside their core academic curricula. She further highlighted that this programme is being organized under RUSA 2.0 Outreach and Public Engagement Initiative.
The keynote speaker for the session was Mr. Tarun Malhotra, a renowned cybersecurity expert. Mr Malhotra demystified complex cyber threats, focusing on real-world vulnerabilities such as phishing, ransomware, identity theft, and data breaches that specifically target institutional and medical networks. He shared practical, actionable strategies for securing personal and professional digital identities.The program was well attended and coordinated by distinguished faculty members, including Dr Shefali Singla and Dr Savita Prashar, who facilitated the interactive sessions.
Principal of the Dental Institute, Dr Deepak Kumar Gupta, applauded Prof. Suveera Gill and her teammates for collaborating on this highly relevant and contemporary topic in today's digital world, and thanked her for selecting the Dental Institute as one of the Institutions under the RUSA 2.0 Outreach and Public Engagement Initiative.
The lecture concluded with a Q&A session, followed by a formal vote of thanks acknowledging the collaborative efforts of the Dental Institute and CSDE.
