Panjab University Organised a Programme to Commemorate World Heart Day at the Student Centre
The Centre for Public Health, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh in collaboration with the NSS Unit organised a programme to commemorate World Heart Day at the Student Centre.
Chandigarh, September 29, 2026: The Centre for Public Health, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh in collaboration with the NSS Unit organised a programme to commemorate World Heart Day at the Student Centre.
The programme was graced by the presence of Registrar PU, Prof. Y. P. Verma; DSW Women PU, Prof. Dr. Namita Gupta; and Prof. and Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon, PGIMER, Chandigarh, Dr. Anand Kumar Mishra.
The event was organised with the support of Chairperson, Centre for Public Health, Dr. Manoj Kumar and other members of the organising team.
NSS Coordinator, Dr. Anupam Bahri and Dr. Bharat Bajaj, along with the faculty, Dr. Paravreet Kaur and Mrs. Poonam Sharma, coordinated the programme with the support of NSS volunteers and student participants.
The programme focused on promoting awareness about cardiovascular health, prevention of heart diseases, healthy lifestyles and the importance of timely response during cardiac emergencies.
A series of activities were conducted during the programme. The event began with a role play highlighting important messages related to heart health. This was followed by a CPR demonstration by Khushmeet, MPH 1st Year, along with a health talk by Dr. Anand Kumar Mishra covering CPR awareness and other important aspects of cardiovascular health and prevention.
Following the health talk, a heart health pledge was taken by the participants, reaffirming their commitment to taking care of their heart health and adopting healthy lifestyle practices.
A basic health check-up, including blood pressure measurement, was also conducted for the participants. The programme further included a balloon release as part of the World Heart Day observance.
The event concluded with a Walkathon, bringing together students and participants to promote physical activity and a heart-healthy lifestyle.
The programme successfully brought together awareness, health education and active participation, reaffirming the importance of collective efforts towards building a healthier and more heart-conscious university community.
