PU Vice Chancellor Prof Renu Vig has made an earnest appeal to all stakeholders to build upon the momentum gained due to highest NAAC grade A++. She lamented that various stakeholders have high expectations from the university, which were also reinforced by the NAAC peer team. She was presiding over the meeting of the Chairpersons/Directors/Coordinators of all Teaching Departments and Centres of Panjab University, Chandigarh. Chandigarh, August 21, 2023: PU Vice Chancellor Prof Renu Vig has made an earnest appeal to all stakeholders to build upon the momentum gained due to highest NAAC grade A++. She lamented that various stakeholders have high expectations from the university, which were also reinforced by the NAAC peer team. She was presiding over the meeting of the Chairpersons/Directors/Coordinators of all Teaching Departments and Centres of Panjab University, Chandigarh. The house congratulated the Vice chancellor and her team for the high rankings.

Prof Renu Vig shared that NAAC peer was impressed with the  clearly stated vision and mission which has been reflected in itsacademic and administrative governance. She also highlighted that the NAAC team wanted PU to try to be global university with International Ranking as it has all the hallmarks to be so.
 

Prof. Renu Vig shared the journey of submission of Self Study Report (SSR) in March 2023 based on our Annual Quality Assurance Reports. She said that teachers must submit data so that there is a timely submission of SSR. She also shared 11 specific recommendations made by NAAC with the faculty members. Vice Chancellor asserted that there should be timely declaration of results and also told faculty members to explore possibility of issuing a provisional declaration of result at the department level. She further stated that action must be taken on the feedback as per the NAAC requirement. To be a global University, PU must study the curriculum of the best Universities at the national and international level and required changes must be made in our syllabus especially in Management and Law disciplines.
 
 
Prof. Rumina Sethi, Dean of University Instructions (DUI), PU congratulated all the faculty members for excellent ranking. She further stated that PU has got a kickstart by achieving a good rank. Maintaining such a high grade will require cooperation and commitment of all. She opined that we need to further strengthen our strengths and aim at minimising our weaknesses as highlighted by NAAC. Therefore, we must carry on with our best practices. She further stated that we have to start CBCS system in every department as well as ensure smooth implementation of NEP.

Furthermore, the issues such as reducing vehicular traffic in the Campus, conduct of internal and external audit regularly, more involvement of temporary and guest faculty to strengthen the departments, were also deliberated upon.

Prof. Sanjeev Sharma, Director, Internal Quality Assurance Cell, PU made a detailed presentation on various aspects of accreditation and global rankings. He shared that PU will now be classified as a Grade 1 University with highest score in dual mode (regular as well as distance learning). PU must strengthen its international research networks and work on perception among the academicians and the employers to improve international ranking.
