Panjab University Launches AICTE IDEA Lab
3-Day SPARC-Sponsored Workshop on AI, IoT and Industry 4.0 Concludes
Chandigarh, November 20, 2025: Three-day SPARC-sponsored hands-on workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Industry 4.0 and design simulations concluded at Panjab University’s newly inaugurated AICTE IDEA (Idea Development, Evaluation & Application) Lab at PI-RAHI, South Campus.
During the workshop, participants undertook hands-on project development, enabling them to convert theoretical concepts into practical engineering applications.
The IDEA Lab spread across PI-RAHI and UIET, supports prototyping, product development and interdisciplinary research through state-of-the-art equipment and aligns with national missions such as Skill India, Make in India, Startup India and Digital India. Formally, inaugurated by UT Secretary, Education Department Ms. Prerna Puri, and PU Vice Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig. Dr. Cuifeng Ying of Nottingham Trent University (UK), also participated under the SPARC–UKIERI collaborative initiative.
Director RDC, Prof. Meenakshi Goyal encouraged students to make full use of the IDEA Lab as a hub for innovation and technology-driven entrepreneurship.
Dr. Gaurav Sapra, Faculty Coordinator, highlighted the Lab’s vision of fostering collaboration between industry and academia.
Prof. Manu Sharma urged students to form interdisciplinary teams to address industrial challenges and develop solutions with potential for startup creation.
Delivering the Vote of Thanks, Prof. Rajesh Kumar, Co-Coordinator of the IDEA Lab, acknowledged the contributions of dignitaries, resource persons and students, appreciating their enthusiasm and collaborative spirit.
