Panjab University Invites Nominations for Senate Election 2026
Panjab University has invited nominations from Registered Graduates for the election of Ordinary Fellows to the Senate under Section 13(1) of the Panjab University Act.
Chandigarh, July 27, 2026: Panjab University has invited nominations from Registered Graduates for the election of Ordinary Fellows to the Senate under Section 13(1) of the Panjab University Act.
According to a press release issued by PU, Chandigarh on Monday, as per the election schedule approved by the Chancellor, nominations on the prescribed form may be submitted to Prof. Yajvender Pal Verma, Registrar-cum-Returning Officer, Panjab University, Chandigarh, up to 3:00 p.m. on August 6, 2026.
The nomination form can be obtained from the Office of the Registrar, Panjab University, Chandigarh, or downloaded from the University's Senate Elections portal (https://senateelections.puchd.ac.in/). The nomination form, along with a security deposit of Rs. 500, may be submitted either by registered post or delivered personally to Prof. Yajvender Pal Verma, Registrar-cum-Returning Officer during office hours against a written receipt, ensuring that it reaches the office before the prescribed deadline.
The election for the Registered Graduates constituency will be held on September 20, 2026, for a total of 15 vacancies. Of these, two seats are reserved for Registered Graduates belonging to the districts of Ferozepur (including erstwhile areas of the district falling within the University's jurisdiction), Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana, Muktsar, Moga and Balachaur Tehsil of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar District; one seat is reserved for the Union Territory of Chandigarh; and the remaining 12 seats are for other areas, including those mentioned above.
