Chandigarh, September 22, 2026: Marking the occasion of National Service Scheme (NSS) Foundation Day, the NSS unit of Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh inaugurated the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Club today with great enthusiasm and official solemnly.
The Chief Guest for the prestigious event was the PU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Meenakshi Goyal. The event was further graced by key university dignitaries, including CMO Health Centre, Dr Rupinder Kaur; Geology Department NSS Programme Coordinator, Dr Mahesh Thakur; NSS Program Officers, Prof. Anupam Bahri.
In her address, PU Vice Chancellor Prof. Meenakshi Goyal emphasised the crucial need for proactive youth involvement in community safety and disaster preparedness.
A hands-on awareness session and practical survival skill drill were conducted under the expert guidance of NDRF Inspector Akshit. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Vibhuti Nakta.
Earlier, the formal proceedings commenced with the ceremonial lamp lighting, followed by the singing of Vande Mataram and the NSS Song.
