Panjab University Vice Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig today inaugurated Devi Ahilyabai Hall (Girls’ Hostel No. 11) at its Sector 25 campus, expanding residential facilities for women scholars. Prof. Renu Vig unveiled the plaque and participated in a community Hawan ceremony.

Chandigarh, August 12, 2025: Panjab University Vice Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig today inaugurated Devi Ahilyabai Hall (Girls’ Hostel No. 11) at its Sector 25 campus, expanding residential facilities for women scholars. Prof. Renu Vig unveiled the plaque and participated in a community Hawan ceremony.

Addressing the function, Prof. Vig highlighted the university’s commitment to quality student housing and noted that the hostel is named after Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, a symbol of women’s leadership and empowerment. She also acknowledged the support of RUSA 2.0 in the hostel’s construction.

Dean Student Welfare Prof. Amit Chauhan described the facility as “a vibrant living space focused on comfort, security, and holistic development,” while Dean Student Welfare (Women) Prof. Namita Gupta called it “a valuable initiative for female research scholars that will enhance their research contribution.”

The function was attended by PU DUI Prof. Yojna Rawat, Director Research Prof. Meenakshi Goyal, Controller of Examination Prof. Jagat Bhushan, CMO Dr. Rupinder Kaur, Dr. Varinder Kaur, Warden, wardens of other hostels, former DSWs, former wardens, members of the DSW Office, faculty, and staff.
