Panjab University Hosts World AIDS Day Awareness Session to Promote HIV Prevention and Education

The Bhai Ghanaiya Ji Institute of Health, Panjab University, in collaboration with Social Substance and the Institute of Educational Technology & Vocational Education, organised a World AIDS Day Awareness Session. The session was part of the global observance of World AIDS Day and aimed at sensitising students, scholars, and faculty about the importance of awareness, prevention, and collective responsibility in combating HIV/AIDS.

Chandigarh December 3, 2025: The Bhai Ghanaiya Ji Institute of Health, Panjab University, in collaboration with Social Substance and the Institute of Educational Technology & Vocational Education, organised a World AIDS Day Awareness Session. The session was part of the global observance of World AIDS Day and aimed at sensitising students, scholars, and faculty about the importance of awareness, prevention, and collective responsibility in combating HIV/AIDS.

This year’s theme, “Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response,” was thoughtfully highlighted throughout the programme, emphasising the urgent need to rebuild momentum in HIV prevention and education, especially in the post-pandemic context.

Sandeep Mittal, Deputy Director (Prevention), Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society delivered the keynote address. In his talk, he conducted an engaging and insightful session on Aids Awareness among students and demonstrated how creative expression can be used as a powerful tool to promote emotional well-being, reduce stigma, and communicate sensitive health messages effectively. His presentation not only enriched participants’ understanding of HIV/AIDS but also introduced innovative ways of integrating art into community health outreach.

The event was held under the guidance of Dr. Amritpal Kaur, Chairperson, Institute of Educational Technology & Vocational Education, who emphasised the Institute’s continuous commitment to social awareness and health education. Dr. Rupinder Kaur, CMO, and Dr. Arun Bansal, Coordinator, also contributed significantly to organizing and facilitating the session.
