Panjab University honours Prof. Renu Vig at farewell function, presents commemorative photo album and portrait

Chandigarh, August 4, 2026: Panjab University on Tuesday accorded a warm farewell to its former Vice Chancellor, Prof. Renu Vig, at a function organised by VC Secretariat at Golden Jubilee Hall, PU, where her tenure and contribution to the University were acknowledged by faculty members, officers and staff.
Prof. Meenakshi Goyal, Vice Chancellor, was the chief host of the function. Prof. Renu Vig attended as the Chief Guest, accompanied by her husband, Sandeep Vig. PU Registrar Prof. Y. P. Verma, Director Research Prof. Savita Gupta, Controller of Examinations Prof. Jagat Bhushan, former Deans of University Instruction Prof. Rumina Sethi and Prof. Yojna Rawat, faculty members, officers and staff were also present.
Welcoming the gathering, the organisers congratulated Prof. Meenakshi Goyal on assuming charge as Vice Chancellor and wished her success in leading the University.
Speaking on the occasion, speakers described Prof. Renu Vig’s tenure as a period marked by academic, administrative and institutional initiatives. They referred to the implementation of the National Education Policy, securing the NAAC A++ accreditation, expansion of research and innovation activities, promotion of the startup ecosystem, completion of the Panjab University Convention Centre and large-scale Career Advancement Scheme and departmental promotions during her tenure.
A specially produced video highlighting significant milestones and achievements during Prof. Vig’s tenure was screened. A presentation on her journey from her childhood to becoming Vice Chancellor was also made on the occasion which got appreciated by the audience. The University also presented her with a commemorative photo album capturing important moments from her tenure. A specially commissioned portrait and a memento were also presented to her as tokens of appreciation.
Registrar Prof. Y. P. Verma, Director Research Prof. Savita Gupta and Controller of Examinations Prof. Jagat Bhushan, shared their experiences of working with Prof. Vig and recalled her leadership, accessibility and commitment to institutional development. The stage was conducted by Secretary to Vice Chancellor Prof. Krishan Saluja.
Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor Prof. Meenakshi Goyal acknowledged Prof. Vig’s contribution to the University and conveyed her best wishes for the future.
In her address, Prof. Renu Vig said Panjab University would always remain close to her heart and assured that her association with the institution would continue. She announced that she would voluntarily continue teaching Undergraduate students at UIET even after demitting office. She expressed confidence that the University would continue to scale new heights of excellence.
Prof. Renu Vig reflected on her association with Panjab University, shared memories from her tenure and expressed gratitude to the faculty, officers, employees, students and all stakeholders for their support and cooperation.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by former Dean University Instruction Prof. Rumina Sethi, who thanked all those associated with the organisation of the function.
