Chandigarh, December 19, 2025: Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, on Thursday honoured faculty members for 23 patents granted during the financial year 2024–25 at a Patent Appreciation Ceremony held on campus.

PU Vice-Chancellor Professor Renu Vig, who was the Chief Guest, presented Certificates of Appreciation to the inventors and announced cash awards for the first five patents granted during the year. The ceremony was held at the Seminar Hall, Guru Tegh Bahadur Bhawan.

The event was jointly organised by the Centre for Industry–Institute Partnership Programme (CIIPP), the IPR Cell, Panjab University, and the DST–Technology Enabling Centre (TEC). Cash awards were given to the inventors of the first five patents granted during the financial year in recognition of their early achievement.

During the ceremony, twelve scientists of Panjab University made brief presentations on their patented technologies before students and industry representatives. Participants joined the programme in both online and offline modes. The presentations aimed to motivate students to build startups based on university patents and to promote technology commercialisation through industry collaboration.

Suyog Jain, owner of Vardhman Chemtech, attended the programme as the Guest of Honour and shared insights on the commercialisation of academic patents. He spoke on industry expectations, scalability, and market readiness of research-based innovations.

Dr H S Cheema, owner of Cheema Boilers, also attended the ceremony and expressed interest in exploring some of the university’s patents for possible industrial applications.

Cash award recipients included Dr Avneet Saini, Dr Shweta Sharma, Dr Prashant Jindal, Dr Mamta Juneja, Dr Neelima Dhingra, Dr Monika, Prof. Om Prakash Katare, Dr Rohit K. Sharma, Dr Nishima Wangoo, Prof. Neena Capalash and Prof. Prince Sharma
