Panjab University holds cleanliness drive ahead of World Environment Day
Panjab University, under its Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiative, organised a cleanliness drive on the university campus in collaboration with the PU Campus Students Council and the Horticulture Division ahead of World Environment Day.
Chandigarh, June 2, 2026: Panjab University, under its Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiative, organised a cleanliness drive on the university campus in collaboration with the PU Campus Students Council and the Horticulture Division ahead of World Environment Day.
PU Vice Chancellor Prof Renu Vig attended the event as the chief guest and actively participated in the cleanliness campaign. The drive was conducted under the guidance of Prof Parveen Goyal, Coordinator, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Panjab University.
Addressing the participants, Prof Vig emphasised that cleanliness and environmental sustainability can be achieved only through the collective efforts of students, employees and the wider university community.
“Swachh Bharat Abhiyan can achieve its true objective only when every educational institution, workplace and public space embraces cleanliness as a collective responsibility. The success of the mission depends on the active participation of every citizen and institution in maintaining a clean and healthy environment,” said Prof Renu Vig.
Prof Vig also administered a pledge to participants, reaffirming their commitment towards cleanliness, environmental protection and sustainable practices.
A large number of hostel wardens, students, university employees and faculty members participated in the drive. Executive Engineer (XEN-II) Mr Anil Thakur was also present and joined the cleanliness campaign.
