Chandigarh, August 26, 2026: The Electoral Literacy Club of the Department of Library and Information Science, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh today conducted an Electoral Awareness Session.
The session commenced with an introduction by Chairperson, Dr. Khushpreet Singh Brar and Nodal Officer, Dr. Shiv Kumar highlighted the importance of electoral awareness and the active participation of youth in the democratic process. Research scholars, Heenam and Mayurakshi assisted in conducting the session.
The session was organised to enhance students' understanding of the electoral process, emphasis on voter registration, the significance of voting, and the pivotal role of the youth in strengthening democracy. Information regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls was also shared with the participants. In addition, students were also informed about the Book-a Call facility with the Booth Level Officer (BLO), and other related aspects enabling them to seek assistance and clarification regarding voter registration and other electoral services.
The session increased awareness among students about their responsibilities as active and informed citizens. The initiative also helped students recognize their important role in shaping the democratic process.
