The motivational lecture was delivered today by Prof. M. Masoom Raza, Department of Library and Information Science, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh.
The session was organised with the objective of introducing students to the significance, scope, and professional opportunities associated with Library and Information Science and inspiring them to pursue the course with enthusiasm, confidence, and dedication.
Prof. Raza shared his own experiences and his own personal journey in Library and Information Science. Through his lecture, he gave the audience a glimpse into the challenges, learning experiences, and milestones that shaped his professional career. His lecture focused on his professional success is often the result of sustained effort, perseverance, continuous learning, and the courage to face challenges.
He also encouraged the students to recognize the value and potential of the course they have chosen. He advised them not to view Library and Information Science merely as a traditional academic discipline but as a dynamic and expanding field with significant relevance in the modern knowledge society. He emphasized the importance of developing technological competence, communication skills, research abilities, critical thinking, and a habit of continuous learning. Also, he motivated students to explore the diverse career opportunities available within the profession.
Prof. Raza emphasised that the modern information professional can contribute in many areas beyond traditional library services. He also emphasised the combination of subject knowledge, technological skills, professional commitment, and an eagerness to learn, students can build successful and meaningful careers in a variety of information-related domains.
