Panjab University Dental Institute celebrated World No Tobacco Day
Dr Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital, Panjab University observed “No Tobacco Day” on Saturday with great enthusiasm. Activities like awareness drive, poster making, competition, slogan raising and pledge were conducted to raise awareness about harmful effects of tobacco use and encourage individuals to lead a healthier tobacco free life.

Chandigarh, 31 May 2025: Dr Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital, Panjab University observed “No Tobacco Day” on Saturday with great enthusiasm. Activities like awareness drive, poster making, competition, slogan raising and pledge were conducted to raise awareness about harmful effects of tobacco use and encourage individuals to lead a healthier tobacco free life.
The day began with an awareness drive in the departments of the dental institute led by the faculty Public health department and Tobacco cessation centre (TCC) . The faculty and the students interacted with the patients and educated them about harmful effects of tobacco and the advantages of quitting the habit. A series of posters were used to showcase the consequences of tobacco consumption. The patients were also encouraged to visit the TCC centre of the institute. The drive culminated at reception area with a pledge against the use of tobacco. Indian Dental Association (IDA) also collaborated with the dental institute in this drive.
Poster making competition was conducted wherein various posters highlighting harmful aspects of tobacco were displayed in the TCC centre of the institute.
Educational videos were also displayed in the waiting area of the institute.
With a mission to lead a healthy lifestyle and tobacco free future the dental institute is making every effort through its departments and well established TCC (Tobacco Cessation Centre) which is working to help people leave tobacco by providing all kinds of help.
The institute's activities aligned with the 2025 theme of No Tobacco Day i.e. “Bright products. Dark intentions. Unmasking the Appeal “Let’s break this habit - ‘Say No to Tobacco and Yes to Life’.
