Panjab University CDOE Celebrates World Photography Week; Inaugurated Photography Exhibition

The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, inaugurated a photography exhibition as part of World Photography Week celebrations. The exhibition featured 35 photographic works by 12 students of the Advanced Diploma in Photography (ADP), batch 2025-2026.

Chandigarh, August 22, 2026: The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, inaugurated a photography exhibition as part of World Photography Week celebrations. The exhibition featured 35 photographic works by 12 students of the Advanced Diploma in Photography (ADP), batch 2025-2026.
Director, CDOE, Prof. Geeta Bansal, Gold Medalist and former student of the Department of Photography, inaugurated the exhibition along with Chief Guest, DSW Prof. Yogesh K. Rawal and Guest of Honour, former Senator and Syndicate Member PU, Prof. Rabindranath Sharma.
The exhibited works presented visual narratives on nature, environment, emotions and contemporary life. The collection spans diverse genres including wildlife, nature, street photography, photojournalism, night photography and fine art photography, reflecting the students’ technical skills and creative approach.
The participating students are Ranjit Singh, Ritu Barki, Arshdeep Singh, Jasleen Kaur, Shyamli Thakur, Rahul Saini, Charanjeet Kaur, Kanika, Manpreet Kaur, Ram Singh Yadav, Vikas and Appalapuram Muni Ram Sripadha. The exhibition was curated under the mentorship of Dr. Jeesu Jaskanwar Singh.
Prof. Geeta Bansal appreciated the students for presenting their creative vision and encouraged them to continue exploring new ideas and possibilities in photography. She said CDOE remains committed to providing distance learners with professional education and practical exposure.
Prof. Yogesh K. Rawal said photography has an important role in academics and research. He added that exhibitions such as these provide promising photographers with a platform to showcase their work before the public and gain professional exposure.
The exhibition will remain open for two weeks at the CDOE building.
As part of their training, the students received professional guidance and practical exposure from photographers and experts including Swadesh Talwar, Dr. Maneshwar Singh Kondal, Michaelangelo Francis, Gaurav Shonik, Deepak Arora, Amit Tyagi, Akhilesh Kumar, Jatinder Kamboj, Gagandeep Singh, Tarsem Singh, Kulbhushan Kanwar, Vikas Kahol, Dr. Pradeep Tewari, Shivali Raj, Abhinav Poonia, Mandeep Singh, Arun Bansal, Dr. Abhijeet Singh, Satish Verma, Harpreet Singh Pahwa and Parveen Jaggi, among other professionals from photography and visual arts.
