Panjab University Campus emerges as leading option for international students studying in India

Chandigarh, January 12, 2015: Apart from being a most preferred choice for the students of Northern States of the country, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh Campus has also emerged as a leading option for the international students studying in India.

PU Spokesman said that 146 international students from 15 countries are studying in Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh Campus for getting quality education in session 2014-15. He said an international rankings have helped the PU in getting more attention at the global level. The number of inquiries from international students through e-mail and Facebook about the admission schedule has significantly increased, he added. 

Maximum numbers of international students are from Iran, Afghanistan, Canada and United States of America (USA). Australia, United Kingdom (UK), Thailand, Myanmar, Brazil, Ethiopia, Germany, Nepal and Sweden are some other countries, whose students are studying in PU campus. Out of 146 students pursuing education in PU campus, 59 of them are girls. 

He said that 55 international students are pursuing Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D) in various departments like Anthropology, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Computer Science & Application, Laws, Economics, Education, Gandhian Studies, Microbiology, Political Science, Public Administration, Philosophy, Physical Education, Statistics, Urdu & Persian, UIET and Psychology. Nine International students are pursuing Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D) from Department of English and Cultural Studies.

BDS and BA LL.B/B.Com. LL.B has emerged as the big draw for international students pursuing bachelor degrees. Most of the international students in these courses are from Canada and USA. 21 international students are studying Law from University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), 15 international students are doing Bachelors in Dental Sciences (BDS) from Dr. H S J Institute of Dental Sciences, 3 students are pursuing Bachelor of Pharmacy from UIPS, 3 students are doing under graduate courses from Economics and 2 students are doing Bachelor in Engineering from UIET. 

In PU Campus, 37 international students are doing Post Graduation courses like MBA, M. Pharmacy, MA and LL.B. from departments like UBS, UIPS, Bio-Technology, Economics, Philosophy, Public Administration, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology and. 7 international students are studying Bachelor of Law from Department of Laws.
