Panjab University and Punjab State Council for Science and Technology initiate weeklong festival ‘Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate’ 

Chandigarh, February 25, 2022: Panjab University and Punjab State Council for Science and Technology initiated a weeklong festival ‘Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate’ in association with the Ministry of Culture celebrating Science, its popularization and extension. As a segment of this celebration, University Institute of Applied Management Sciences successfully organized an entrepreneurial pitching contest called ‘Pitch Perfect’ which aims to manifest the entrepreneurial vision in students. The event was coordinated by Dr Manjushri Sharma and Dr Rachita Sambyal.
 
The event kick started with facilitation of judges. Elevator pitches were delivered by eight teams in total and visual aids were used by the contesting teams to deliver pitches.
 
The contest was evaluated by  Dr. Upneet Kaur Mangat [Chairperson- Centre for Human Rights & Duties (U.I.E.A.S.S)], Dr. Nishi Sharma [Director- UIAMS] and learned faculty member of UIAMS, Dr. Ajay Dogra. The presented pitches were assessed on strict parameters of the nature of idea, originality of idea, nature of the problem and the viability of the solution.
 
The event concluded with the announcement of winners. First rank was awarded to the pitch proposing development of a Cinema Network App. Second rank was awarded to an innovative pitch suggesting usage of tetra packs in place of plastic for water distribution. The third rank was awarded to a pitch focusing on non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
