Panel discussion on contemporary concerns of youth of Punjab organised
Jalandhar, November 1, 2019: PG Department of Journalism and Mass Communication organized a Panel Discussion entitled Contemporary Concerns of Youth of Punjab in Doaba College today on the eve of Punjab Day.
Chander Mohan- President Arya Shiksha Mandal & College Managing Committee and Eminent Journalist, Dr.Jasbir Rishi- Dean Student Welfare, DAV University, Desraj Kali- Novelist, Critic and Journalist, Mr.Jasvir Singh- MD News Plus Channel graced the occasion as panelists.
Dr.Naresh Kumar Dhiman and Dr.Simran Sidhu-Head, Faculty and 110 students accorded a hearty welcome to the dignitaries.
Chander Mohan said that lack of conversation between parents and children is the cause of many problems in the emerging scenario of mobile revolution in modern times, so it is the need of the hour that parents should have more fruitful interaction and spend quality time with their children. Dr.Jasbir Rishi discussed the PERMA Model where P signifies Positivity, E for Engagement, R for Relation, M for Meaningfulness and A for Accomplishment.
Jasvir Singh said that the level of school education in government schools of Punjab is not of optimum level because the government school teachers are overloaded and burdened with election work throughout the year, i.e. why they are not able to deliver their quality participation and contribution in teaching.
Desraj Kali discussed in detail the prevalence, emergence and nuisance of paid news and he goaded the budding journalists of the department to be aware of this menace.
The students – Jivesh, Rahul, Rashi, Manju, Shivani, Monika, Sandeep, Gurkirat and Sukhvir also discussed and asked relevant questions on the burning issues of student union elections, drugs, unemployment, adulteration, education, migration etc. with the panelists.
