Panchkula Golf League returns with a bang - raising the bar in Season Two
A bigger field and heightened competition sets the stage for PGL 2026
Panchkula, February 3, 2026: After a successful inaugural edition, the Panchkula Golf League (PGL) returns for its second season, promising sharper competition, greater participation and an enhanced league experience. Scheduled to be played from 4 to 22 February 2026 at the Panchkula Golf Club, the new season signals the League’s evolution from a promising debut to a firmly established sporting fixture on the region’s golfing calendar.
Building on the momentum of its first season, the 2026 edition will feature 16 teams, each comprising 16 players, competing across two different formats during the 2 stages of the League. The 16 teams have been divided into 2 groups of 8 teams each. The first stage of the League, the Round Robin stage, will be played from 4 to 17 February and the players will be scored on the individual stableford format with their scores counting towards their team totals. The top 4 teams from each group, based on cumulative stableford points from all their rounds during the Round Robin stage will then qualify for the knock out stage which will be played in the four ball better ball matchplay format. The Finals and the 3rd position playoffs will be played on 22 February with the Grand Finale sundowner Prize Distribution function on the same day.
What continues to set the Panchkula Golf League apart is its thoughtfully designed team structure and playing format that demands consistency, strategy and teamwork across multiple matchdays, while reinforcing the spirit of collective performance over individual brilliance. True to its founding philosophy, the League places strong emphasis on inclusivity within a competitive framework. Each team is mandatorily structured to include a woman golfer, a senior player above the age of 70 and representation across defined handicap categories, ensuring competitive balance while reinforcing the league’s belief that depth, diversity and teamwork are central to high-quality golf.
Speaking on the League’s progression, B. Chandra Sekhar, IPS (Retd), Co- Chairman, Organising Committee, Panchkula Golf League, said, “The Panchkula Golf League was envisioned as a platform that strengthens competitive golf while fostering camaraderie and sporting values. The second edition reflects a natural progression, with greater depth, wider participation and a format that tests skill, discipline and teamwork. We see the League as an important contributor to the region’s sporting ecosystem.”
Tournament Director Digraj Singh, who returns after overseeing the inaugural edition, remarked, “The Panchkula Golf League has quickly become a format that players look forward to. The players are tested on two different scoring formats which demand different strategies. Every match has a bearing on the standings, which keeps the competition intense throughout the league. With closely matched teams and a demanding schedule, the focus is firmly on execution, teamwork and decision-making under pressure.”
The tournament is supported by sponsors TATA Berkeley (Berkeley Motors), COAL as the Skincare Partner, Golf Plus as the Golf Magazine Partner and Him Paani as the Water Partner.
As the Panchkula Golf League tees off for its second season, it does so with greater confidence, broader participation and a clearer identity thereby positioning itself not merely as a tournament, but as a growing League ecosystem that celebrates competitive golf, camaraderie and community spirit.
