Paid holiday on February 20

Nawanshahr, February 11, 2022: To enable the employees working in the shops and all commercial establishments situated to exercise their right to franchise in the assembly elections on February 20, a paid holiday has been declared in the district.

An official spokesman said that in exercise of the powers conferred by second provisions of sub-section (1) of section 135-B of Representation of People Act 1951, paid holiday has been declared on February 20 in respect of all persons employed in any business, trade, industrial undertaking or any other establishment situated in the district and entitled to vote at the elections on that day.
