Mumbai: Sony Entertainment Television is set to captivate audiences with its grand historical drama, Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, premiering from 4th June at 7:30 PM, every Monday to Friday. This magnum opus chronicles the inspiring journey of Prithviraj Chauhan, tracing his transformation from an innocent young prince to one of India’s bravest kings. Crowned at a tender age, Prithviraj Chauhan was known for his unwavering dedication to protecting the nation. Even today, the epic battle between one of history’s greatest villains, Muhammad Ghori, and Prithviraj Chauhan continues to be spoken about, stirring pride in the hearts of many. As a warrior, he was armed not just with weapons, but also with wisdom and vision. Prithviraj was defined by fearless choices rooted in duty, compassion, and an unshakable devotion to his motherland and its people.
Veteran actress Padmini Kolhapure is all set to mesmerize audiences with her portrayal of the regal Rajmata in this grand historical saga. To breathe life into this iconic character, Padmini undertook extensive research, immersing herself in the emotional and historical essence of the queen. She delved into historical texts, folk tales, and scholarly accounts to piece together the layered persona of a queen, a mother, and a strategist who played a pivotal role in shaping the legacy of Prithviraj Chauhan.
Talking about getting into the skin of the character, Padmini Kolhapure shares “Playing Rajmata in Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my career. She’s not just a historical figure, she’s a mother, a guide, and a strong presence behind one of India’s greatest warriors. To understand her better, I didn’t rely only on the script. I read historical texts, folk stories, scholarly articles, and even watched regional documentaries to get a sense of how she might have carried herself. Interestingly, my phone now only recommends content related to Prithviraj and stories from that era, I’ve done that much research. What stood out to me was her quiet strength. She may not have been on the battlefield, but her role was just as important. As a mother myself, I related to the emotional weight she must have carried and the strength it would have taken to stay composed during difficult times. It’s a big responsibility to bring her story to life, and I’ve tried to make sure every gesture and moment reflects her journey as truthfully as possible."
