Pacific D21, Dwarka join hands with AWWA for ‘AWWAHAN’ initiative

New Delhi, November 25, 2019: Army Wives Welfare Association, the nodal organisation which works towards the welfare of spouses, children and dependents of Army Personnel, took yet another initiative towards their upliftment. AWWA has started a KIOSK at the newly opened Pacific D21 Mall at Dwarka Sector 21 Metro Station on Monday. Mrs.Madhulika Rawat, wife of Indian Army Chief Bipin Rawat and president of AWWA inaugurated the ‘AWWAHAN’ kiosk at Pacific D21. The Kiosk will offer handmade bed-sheets, cushions and dupattas along with few other products and the proceeds of the KIOSK will go directly to war widows. Pacific D21 which was operationalized recently is the first organised mall of Dwarka-Sub city. The mall caters to almost one million people thus it is expected to provide a huge customer base to the KIOSK making the initiative highly popular. Also, contributing to the noble cause, Pacific Mall has provided the KIOSK space free of cost to make it more profitable. Mr. Abhishek Bansal, Executive Director, Pacific Group said, “We are so privileged to be a part of this wonderful initiative by AWWA. AWWAHAN’ is the first such initiative by Pacific Mall in association with the Indian Army in Dwarka, the largest sub-city in Asia. Post, the successful Artillery exhibition and immense appreciation by the public, we decided to offer free space to the Indian Army at Pacific Mall to set up ‘AWWAHAN’ – a kiosk to generate revenue for the war widows.” Adding to it, “It not just feels proud but it is an honour to get an opportunity to host such inspiring events for our valiant soldiers.” Speaking at the occasion, Mrs. Rawat said, “This is a matter of great honour for all of us to be working for the welfare of the families of our valiant soldiers. This is a wonderful initiative by AWWA and we are looking to take more such initiatives in the future. I also thank the Pacific Group for helping us in our initiative. There is nothing compared to the contribution of our soldiers for the nation but we hope that our initiatives will support their families to some extent.” AWWA Army Wives Welfare Association, an association working for the welfare of the spouses, children and dependents of the Army personnel is aptly referred to as the invisible hands that shape the punch of the Indian Army. It is one of the largest registered NGOs in India. AWWA aims at the holistic development and well-being of Army Wives including their children and rehabilitation of war widows and differently-abled children.
