Oxford University Press Launches 7th Edition of Oxford Big Read Global Challenge to Ignite Reading Passion in Indian Students
According to a 2024 index, Indians spend an average of 10 hours and 42 minutes per person per week reading. While India achieved the highest score in reading time, significant gaps persist in reading comprehension and critical engagement, especially among school-aged children.

While India achieved the highest score in reading time, significant gaps persist in reading comprehension and critical engagement, especially among school-aged children.

In its ongoing effort to inspire a love for reading and boost literacy among school children, Oxford University Press (OUP) has announced the launch of its annual Oxford Big Read Global Challenge. Now in its seventh edition, this reading competition invites schools across the country to engage their primary, middle, and secondary school students in a global contest to enhance their reading skills.
The Oxford Big Read Global Challenge 2025 aims to bridge learning gaps by promoting not only reading fluency but also creative expression, analytical thinking, and a deeper understanding and interpretation of texts.
