Over 600 Panjab University students participate in UIET’s internal round of Smart India Hackathon 2026
More than 600 students participated in the Internal Round of Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2026 organised at the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Chandigarh, September 11, 2026: More than 600 students participated in the Internal Round of Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2026 organised at the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Panjab University, Chandigarh.
The internal hackathon was organised through the joint efforts of UIET’s technical clubs, P-Club and BPC, with more than 100 teams participating in the event.
The participating teams worked on a diverse range of problem statements based on themes provided by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and developed innovative and practical solutions to real-world challenges.
Students from various departments of Panjab University worked collaboratively on the problem statements and demonstrated their technical capabilities, innovative thinking and problem-solving skills while developing potential solutions.
Prof. Sukhwinder Singh, Director, UIET, interacted with the participating students and appreciated the enthusiasm, creativity, team work and problem-solving abilities of UIET students. He encouraged the teams to focus on innovation and technical excellence while keeping societal impact and practical applicability in mind.
The internal round provided the teams an opportunity to refine their ideas, receive expert feedback and strengthen their preparations for the subsequent stages of Smart India Hackathon 2026. The next stage of the hackathon is expected to be conducted in December.
