Chandigarh, October 13, 2025: Orientation programme for the newly admitted students of UIET in B.E. Engineering course was held today at Law Auditorium of  Panjab University Chandigarh.  

It is   a venture conceived by AICTE, articulated in its model curriculum for the newly admitted students of  engineering colleges of  India. The basic purpose of this programme is to sensitize the students towards exploring their academic interests and activities, making them inculcate   the ethos and culture of the institution  where they are going to invest  the best years of their lives.

Japjit Singh, Assistant Director General in Punjab Licence Service area, Deptt. of Telecommunication, Mohali  attended the programme as the chief guest. The programme started with the welcome speech by Prof. Sukhwinder Singh, Director, UIET. He oriented the students about the curriculum  and culture of  UIET and motivated and guided  them by discussing the challenges they would be facing in their academic journey.

Prof. Y.P. Verma, Registrar, Panjab University,  motivated the students with  his envisioned and enriching thoughts. In his speech, he talked about various  keys to success like  perseverance and discipline. Japjit Singh, the chief guest of the event , also a distinguished alumnus of UIET won the hearts of students by sharing  his personal  experiences and suggestions with the students. He motivated the students to spend time in the library as well as in the sports ground for their holistic development. He also talked about the time and financial management that would make them become not only better engineers but also  better citizens of the nation. 

Prof. Shuchi Gupta, Coordinator, Applied  Sciences also welcomed students and guided  them about the challenges faced by first year students. Dr. Nishima Wangoo, convener of the Induction programme delivered the vote of thanks and welcomed the new students to UIET.
