Reacting to the voting in the Lok Sabha on the Nari Shakti Vandan Bill, BJP Punjab Spokesperson Pritpal Singh Baliawal strongly criticized the Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal, and Aam Aadmi Party, stating that their “anti-women” and “anti-national” mindset has now been exposed before the public.
Chandigarh, April 18, 2026: Reacting to the voting in the Lok Sabha on the Nari Shakti Vandan Bill, BJP Punjab Spokesperson Pritpal Singh Baliawal strongly criticized the Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal, and Aam Aadmi Party, stating that their “anti-women” and “anti-national” mindset has now been exposed before the public.
Taking a sharp dig at the Shiromani Akali Dal, Baliawal remarked that leaders who raise slogans like “respect daughters and treat them equally as sons” are today seen standing against women’s rights. He expressed disappointment that even Punjab’s lone woman MP from the Akali Dal, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, voted against a bill aimed at empowering women, thereby exposing the party’s double standards. He termed the move as highly unfortunate and condemnable.
Baliawal further stated that such a stance was expected from Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party, as their MPs often function under the directives of their high command. However, he expressed surprise at the Shiromani Akali Dal, a party that claims to uphold Sikh traditions and advocate respect for women, for adopting such a contradictory position.
He asserted that it is now evident that for opposition parties, politics takes precedence over women’s rights. Reaffirming the Bharatiya Janata Party’s commitment, Baliawal said that the BJP has always stood firmly for women’s empowerment and will continue to safeguard the rights and dignity of the nation’s daughters.
