Opposition Parties Driven Solely by Greed for Power, Have No Concern for Punjab’s Development: Harchand Singh Barsat

Ludhiana , June 17, 2025: Harchand Singh Barsat, General Secretary of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab and Chairman of the Punjab Mandi Board, launched a sharp attack on the opposition parties, accusing them of being solely driven by the greed for power. He said that opposition parties are continuously making baseless statements to achieve power, without any regard for the development and progress of Punjab. These parties, he stated, are misleading the people with their false narratives for their personal gains.

Barsat said that under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government has launched a massive anti-drug campaign to make the state drug-free. This campaign has received full support from the public, but the opposition parties have not only failed to extend their support but are also engaged in misleading people through baseless allegations. He asserted that while the AAP government is committed to eradicating drugs from Punjab, it was during the tenures of previous governments that drugs proliferated across the state.

He further added that during the regimes of opposition-led governments, Punjab’s culture was deeply harmed. Obscene and vulgar music was promoted, gun culture was encouraged, and the educational infrastructure was dismantled, jeopardizing the future of children. Barsat stated that due to the poor performance of previous governments, Punjab had lost its true identity. However, since coming to power, the AAP government has prioritized the development and progress of Punjab, implementing reforms across all sectors. Today, children are receiving quality education in government schools.

The General Secretary highlighted that the opposition parties failed to make proper arrangements for the well-being of children. In contrast, the AAP government is organizing various sports competitions, building sports nurseries, and constructing playgrounds to ensure the physical and mental development of children. He pointed out that the opposition parties misused Punjab’s funds to cover up their failed policies, leaving the state heavily indebted.

Barsat said that the people of Punjab have recognized the true faces of the opposition parties and are ready to teach them a lesson. He confidently stated that in the Ludhiana West by-election, the people will cast their votes in favour of Sanjeev Arora and secure a landslide victory for the AAP.
