Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Surbahi Malik today called upon the girls to prepare for the NDA examination as Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has started NDA preparatory classes for girls at Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (Girls), SAS Nagar.

Ludhiana, December 1, 2023: Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Surbahi Malik today called upon the girls to prepare for the NDA examination as Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has started NDA preparatory classes for girls at Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (Girls), SAS Nagar.
 
Divulging the details, the DC said that as per information received from the institute girls after passing their class X can participate in these preparatory classes for precious NDA examination. She further mention that Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (Mai_Bhago AFPI) for Girls has been established by the Government of Punjab DEoCs) in Sector 66, SAS Nagar (Mohali). The Institute is a visionary, unique and only one of its kind in India initiative, where young girls are trained for a career as Commissioned Officers in Defence service. The Defence Minister of India inaugurated the Institute on 25 Jul 2015 and the first batch, passed out in 2018.
 
She also said that with the announcement by the Central Government to allow girls to join NDA from 2022 onwards, the Punjab Government has taken a 'path breaking decision' to start an 'NDA Preparatory Wing at Mai Bhago, AFPI', which till now was only training girls to join Indian Army and Indian Air Force after graduation.
 
Girls joining NDA Preparatory Wing will complete their 11th and 12th from Doon International School, which is a reputed school in Mohali, with whom the institute has signed an MOU', beside Imbibing different aspects of training essential for preparation for Commission into the Defence Forces, she said, adding that the complete cost of training, boarding, lodging, messing, uniforms & dresses etc. is paid by the Government of Punjab and the students need to only pay school tuition fees, which are also highly subsidized.
 
The first batch of the NDA Preparatory Wing Comprising ten girls is already under training at Mai Bhago AFPI from July 2023 onwards and will be giving their NDA entrance exam in Sep 2024.
 
 The Entrance Exam for the Second (2nd) Batch will be held in January 2024, details of which will be advertised in print/social media and would also be available on institute’s website
