Open Selection Trials for Punjab MTB Team on January 29 at Patiala
For participation in the upcoming Mountain Terrain Bike (MTB) National Championship to be held in Arunachal Pradesh, open selection trials for the formation of the Punjab State Cycling Team (Mountain Bike) will be conducted on January 29 at Jago–Akal Academy Road, Village Kalwa (near Village Baran, Patiala–Sirhind Road). These trials will be held for all categories (men and women), and it is mandatory for participants to be permanent residents of Punjab. All eligible cycling players may participate in these open trials.
Ludhiana, January 11, 2026: For participation in the upcoming Mountain Terrain Bike (MTB) National Championship to be held in Arunachal Pradesh, open selection trials for the formation of the Punjab State Cycling Team (Mountain Bike) will be conducted on January 29 at Jago–Akal Academy Road, Village Kalwa (near Village Baran, Patiala–Sirhind Road). These trials will be held for all categories (men and women), and it is mandatory for participants to be permanent residents of Punjab. All eligible cycling players may participate in these open trials.
The trials will be conducted in all categories, including Men Elite and Women Elite (19 years and above), Men Under-23, Men and Women Junior (aged 17 and 18 years), and Youth Boys and Girls (14 years and below). Players must bring their Punjab domicile certificate, Aadhaar card, and two passport-size photographs at the time of the trials.
Sharing this information, Shailendra Pathak, Chairman, Ad-hoc Committee (Cycling Punjab) and Joint Secretary, Cycling Federation of India (CFI), clarified that in Punjab, the authority to organize and conduct any cycling activities and open selection trials rests solely with the Ad-hoc Committee constituted by the Cycling Federation of India, until the reconstitution or election of the permanent Punjab Body is completed.
He further clarified that any trials or selection processes organized by any other individual or organization during this period will be considered unauthorized and invalid. Players are advised not to be misled or confused. All cyclists of Punjab are strongly advised to stay away from championships or trials organized by any unauthorized individual or organization.
He informed that the Cycling Federation of India constituted the Ad-hoc Committee on December 25, 2025, with the objective of ensuring the smooth conduct of cycling activities in Punjab and preventing any inconvenience to players. The committee will conduct the open trials under the supervision of its appointed observers and President's commission panel
PCP appointee.
Pathak stated that the committee is fully committed to the welfare of players.
