Only super sms fitted combines can harvest paddy crop

Ludhiana, Sep 26, 2025: Additional Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar on Friday stated that in this paddy harvesting season, no combine harvester would be allowed to operate without the Super SMS fitted on it.
Giving clear directions, Kumar stated that Punjab Government has banned the use of combine without having super SMS and if any person violates this rule, then strict action would be taken against the concern and machinery will be impounded. He informed that harvesting of paddy crop is done mainly by using combine harvesters and when Super SMS is fitted on the backside of the combine, it chops the paddy straw into very small pieces, which makes it easier for other machines to operate in the fields.
The ADC also informed that with the use of Super SMS in harvesting, direct sowing of wheat can be done easily by using the happy seeder, which leads to saving of both time and money. He also announced strict regulations on combine harvesters, restricting their operation to between 10 AM and 6 PM. Violators will face stringent action, including equipment seizure, to enforce compliance.
