Online dance competition ‘Tap Your Toes’ for girls studying in PU

Chandigarh: Dr. Shipra Gupta, warden, Amrita Pritam Hall, Girls’ Hostel no. 9, Panjab University organized an online dance competition ‘Tap Your Toes’ for the girls studying in Panjab University. The result of the competition was declared in an online event in the presence of esteemed Dean Student Welfare (W), Prof. Sukhbir Kaur.

The event was attended by a large number of students, besides participants, wardens of the girls’ hostels, other faculty members and Prof. Rajinder Kaur, Director UILS. The judges of the competition, Ms. Jatinder Arora Nayyar and Mr. Tarun Rawat were the special invitees. Jatinder is a trained kathak dancer and has learnt kathak under the guidance of Sh. Deepak Aurora, acclaimed kathak exponent of Jaipur Gharana (disciple of Pt. Rajendra Gangani ji). She has performed in prestigious dance festivals across India like 'Geeta Jayanti@ Kurukshetra', "DivyaKumbh"@ Prayagraj,   Pongal@ Tirupati Bala ji, Janmashtmi@ ISKON temple, New Delhito name a few.

Mr. Tarun Rawat is a passionate dancer and the winner of various prestigious competitions including Himachal Got Talent, Young Manch in Season 4, 2017 and many more and has vast work experience as a dance teacher in prestigious schools in Chandigarh. He has been invited to judge various prestigious dance competitions in various states. He has also worked with Remo D’suza in Street Dancer 3.

The Judges had a really tough time doing the judgement as there was cut-throat competition.  The participants presented a confluence of dance forms such as classical, hip hop, belly dance, Bollywood, folk etc. The participants from various departments, like Physics, Mathematics, UIET, Zoology, UIFT, Nuclear Medicine, Geology, Evening Studies, Chemistry, UICET, Laws and UILS participated enthusiastically.

Mridula Mahajan from Law Department was awarded first position, Shreya Shree from Geology department was awarded second position, Kritika Lakhotia from Physics department and Kiranpreet Kaur from Evening Studies department were awarded third and fourth positions. The judges interacted with the participants and gave them valuable feedback on their performances. The judges appreciated the overwhelming response of the participants,  their spirit and amazing talent. Dr. Shipra Gupta thanked all the participants and the guests. All the participants and the winners were given e-certificates.
