Rohtak, Sept 17, 2025: The CBSE National Swimming Championship (Boys) was inaugurated with great fanfare on Wednesday under the aegis of MDU's University Campus School.

Renowned swimmer and Rio Olympics representative Shivani Kataria attended the opening ceremony as the chief guest. She urged athletes to rise above victory and defeat, embrace the true spirit of sportsmanship, and bring glory to their families, communities, and country through their hard work.

Paralympian Himanshu Nandal, as the guest of honor, inspired the athletes, saying that persistent efforts toward a goal, despite difficulties, are the key to success.

Presiding over the opening ceremony; Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajbir Singh inspired the participants to excel. He stated that such events not only teach students competition but also instill teamwork and sportsmanship.

Professor Sunita Saini, Director of the University Campus School, delivered the welcome address at the opening ceremony and welcomed the athletes and guests.

Present at the event were Dean (CDC) Prof. Vineeta Hooda, Director Sports Dr. Shakuntala Beniwal, CBSE Observer Jagdeep Singh Ahluwalia, Technical Delegate Suresh Deswal, Director CCPC, Prof. Divya Malhan, NSS Program Coordinator Prof. Savita Rathi, faculty members, university officials, sports coaches, participating players, team in-charges, and other officials.

So far, 252 teams and 614 participants have participated in this five-day competition from nine zones in India and abroad. From the foreign zone, 30 teams and 90 players from CBSE schools in Dubai, Qatar, and Oman are participating in the competition.

On the first day of the competition, competitions were held in various age groups. In the 1500m freestyle under-19, Vansh of DPS Vasant Kunj came first, Dakshit of Bal Bharati Public School, Pitampura came second, and Srijan Nath of DPS North came third.

In the 200m individual medley under-11, Yoganithi of St. Barito's Academy, Chennai came first, Himaksh Sharma of DPS, Gurugram came second, and Ishan Pal of Vibgyor High School came third.

In the 200m individual medley under-14, Jas Singh of The Landmark School, Bidarahalli came first, Arya Sathar AP of Velammal VID, Tamil Nadu came second, and Shreyas Sunil of Jain Heritage School, Kempapura came third.

In the 200m individual medley under-17, Arnav Tyagi of Modern School, New Delhi came first, Gowtham Chirumamilla of The Creek Planet School, Telangana came second, and Sais Kini of Air Force, Hebbal came third.
