NTU offers investment for students and faculty exchange to PU
Chandigarh, February 28, 2019: Prof.Mark Biggs, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof.Clare Newstead and Dr.Yvonne Reinwald from Nottingham Trent University (NTU), UK interacted with engineering faculty of University Institute of Engineering & Technology, PU, Chandigarh in different thrust areas of Biomedical Imaging & Devices, Advanced Manufacturing, Energy Harvesting and Traffic Sensing and offered an investment plan of nearly 100,000 pounds for strengthening research facilities. Prof. R.K. Singla, Dean Research, officiating Vice Chancellor and officiating Dean University Instructions, PU, Chandigarh introduced the dignitaries to the diversity and legacy of PU. Prof. Nandita-Dean International, Prof. Deepti-Dean Alumni and Prof. R.K. Johal also interacted with NTU delegation on fostering future collaborations across different areas. Prof. Savita Gupta, Director, UIET explained various engineering research areas on which UIET faculty and students have been working on and which could be of interest to NTU as well. She informed that already the faculty has 5.38 publicationsd to their credit. Prof. Harmesh Kumar, Dr. Prashant Jindal, Dr. Mamta Juneja and Dr. Ajay Mittal presented their research work in the area of biomedical engineering. This group has published nearly 50 high impact publications over the past few years and Prof. Biggs showed great interest in collaborating with this group through their Medical Technologies Innovative Facility. Dr. Naveen Aggarwal explained his group’s innovative work on pot hole detection and modernized traffic sensing systems for which they have received a patent also. Dr. Y P Verma’s Professor, Electronics & Electrical Engineering, presented his research work related to energy management and carbon footprints which have produced several high impact publications.
