NSS Panjab University Organises Walkathon on “Save Environment” & “Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao”

National Service Scheme (NSS), Panjab University (PU) today organised a walkathon on the themes “Save Environment” and “Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao” at PU. As many as 101 enthusiastic girl students from schools and colleges across 11 districts of Punjab participated in the walkathon and a poster-making competition, held early morning today in the picturesque PU campus.

Chandigarh, July 19, 2025: National Service Scheme (NSS), Panjab University (PU) today organised a walkathon on the themes “Save Environment” and “Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao” at PU. As many as 101 enthusiastic girl students from schools and colleges across 11 districts of Punjab participated in the walkathon and a poster-making competition, held early morning today in the picturesque PU campus.

 

The event was sponsored by the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology and conducted under the guidance of Dr. Parveen Goyal, NSS Programme Coordinator, and Dr. Sonia Sharma, NSS Programme Officer.

 

Director, Centre for Distance and Online Education, Prof. Harsh Gandhar attended as the Chief Guest and appreciated the spirit and strength of girl power. Prof. Rajat Sandhir, Guest of Honour, encouraged the continuation of such initiatives at PU, calling them powerful platforms for youth engagement. Dr. Shiv Kumar, also present as a guest, praised the high energy and involvement of the girls.

 

The participants showcased strong commitment to social causes and enjoyed the walkathon route through the university campus, combining awareness with activity.

 

Dr. Alok, Dr. Manoj, and Dr. Ruchika, all NSS Programme Officers, also took part in the event and extended support to the participants.
