Now smart city works shall be extended

Dharamshala, November 9, 2019: The Smart City project will now be implemented in the entire municipal area Dharamshala. It was decided in the meeting of BOD of small city held in Dharamshsala on Saturday.
It was also decided in the meeting that now onwards, not only the old areas of Dharamshala municipal corporation but also the new merge area will be included in smart city project. BOD will meet again this month to resolve pending cases of Smart City and to give approval to the pending projects.
The Smart City Dharamshala BOD met on Saturday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary of state Mr Shrikant Baldi. it was decided that now the works on Smart City will be carried out in the entire municipal area under the scheme. Pending smart city cases will also be approved in the next BOD meeting fixed to be held by the end of this month. For the smooth undertaking of the project works,it was also decided that all the work of Smart city project will be done only after taking the house of Municipal Corporation Dharamshala in confidence. It is worth mentioning here that the works of Smart City Dharamshala were not moving ahead for the last 2 years. Congress holds the mayor's post and enjoy the majority of councillors. In such a situation, due to political rivalry from both sides, the works of Smart City were stuck in. When the BJP lead state government in 2017 it shifted the BOD powers to government officials. But in today’s meeting, hopes again generated for the re start of project works.
The meeting was attended by Dharamsala MLA Vishal Naiharia, Mayor MC Dhasramshala Devendra Jaggi, Deputy Mayar Onkar Naiharai, Corporation commissioner Pradeep Thakur and other officials.
Devendra Jaggi said that the new hopehas risen by the positive approach of Himachal government .
Dharmshala Municipal Corporation is the second one in Himachal Pradesh after Shimla and was established in 2015 and the same year it was included under the smart city project of government of India. On 19 January 2017,the than Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh declared Dharamshala as the second capital of Himachal Pradesh state, making Himachal Pradesh the third state of India with two capitals after Jammu and Kashmir and Maharashtra.
