A delegation of people of Mahendergarh district led by Haryana Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Rao Dan Singh called on Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda in New Delhi on Tuesday and expressed their gratitude for announcing the setting up of a Medical College in Central University Mahendergarh and upgrading General Hospital, Mahendergarh into a 300 bed hospital from existing 50 bed capacity.

Mahendragarh (Haryana), February 4, 2014: A delegation of people of Mahendergarh district led by Haryana Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Rao Dan Singh called on Haryana Chief Minister,  Bhupinder Singh Hooda at his New Delhi residence today and expressed their gratitude for announcing the setting up of a Medical College in Central University Mahendergarh and upgrading General Hospital, Mahendergarh into a 300 bed hospital from existing 50 bed capacity.
The people of Mahendergarh district felicitated the Chief Minister,  Hooda by offering sweets and a turban on the occasion. Rao Dan Singh expressed his gratitude towards Chief Minister, Mr Hooda for this novel gift to the people of Mahendergarh. He said that the Chief Minister,  Hooda has announced to upgrade the General Hospital, Mahendergarh into a 300 bed hospital which now is of 50 bed capacity. He said that the work of upgradation will be undertaken in a phased manner.
On the occasion, Haryana Chief Minister,  Hooda said that setting up of a medical college in Central University Mahendergarh will be a boon for the people of Mahendergarh district and will further strengthen the efforts being made by the State Government for providing better healthcare facilities and promoting medical education in the State. He said that with the setting up of a medical college in Mahendergarh, the number of medical colleges in the State in Government sector will increase to 5. In addition to this, 3 private and one Government aided medical college were also set up in the State.      
Hooda said that before the year 2005, there was only one medical college in Rohtak, which was set up before the inception of Haryana State and his Government has given the status of University of Health Sciences. In addition to this, Bhagat Phool Singh Women Medical College has been set up in village Khanpur Kalan in Sonipat district, which is first Women Medical College in Government sector after the independence of the country. A Medical College named after Shaheed Hasan Khan Mewati has already been started at Nalhad village in Mewat. A medical college in the name of Kalpana Chawla is also being setup in Karnal. A medical college is also being set up by the Employees State Insurance Corporation in Faridabad also.
