North Zone Inter University Volleyball Tournament (Men) begins at Amity University Gurugram
Gurugram, November 7, 2019: Amity University Gurugram is hosting North Zone Inter University Volleyball Tournament (Men) at its campus starting from 7th Nov to 12th Nov, 2019. More than 70 Universities from North India region (i.e Delhi University, Panjab University, Jamia Millia Islamia, MDU, Jammu University, Aligarh Muslim University, Doon University, Kurukshetra University, LPU, IP University etc.). In the six day long tournament helping to promote good health, comradeship and a spirit of friendly competition which in turn has positive impact on the overall development of personality of the youth. The inaugural function was held on 7th November 2019 at Sports Complex, Amity University Gurugram. This is yet another initiative by Amity towards nation building through sports. The other unique endeavors undertaken by the Amity Group include being the official University Partner of the Indian Olympic Contingent to Rio 2016, official Training Partners of the XIX Commonwealth Games, Official University Partners of IPL, ISL & IPTL, Under -17 FIFA World Cup & Amity Polo & Golf Tournaments amongst others. While addressing the gathering Maj Gen B S Suhag (Retd.), Deputy Vice Chancellor, Amity University Gurugram said, ‘brightest India can only be created on the foundation of youth’s dedication, commitment & integrity.’ Maj Gen G S Bal (Retd), DSW and Director of Sports, Amity University Gurugram said, “Sports is an essential part of human resource development, participating in sports promotes character building. It is essential that students must participate whole heartedly in games to imbibe qualities of team work, camaraderie and discipline. The event also coincides with the Hon’ble PM’s ‘Fit India’ initiative, launched to promote a healthier and disease free India.” Rahul Boken, University Volleyball Captain, Amity University Gurugram said, ‘We are practicing for this tournament since long. We are ready for the competition and we will give our best. Being the home ground team, we have the opportunity to play better as much as we can.’ On the first day audience witnessed nail biting matches between MJP Rohillkhand University Bairely vs Central University Mahendragarh in which MJP Rohilkhand won the match (3-1), CCS Meerut won the match in straight sets 3-0 against Aligarh Muslim University and Chandigarh University Mohali won the match University of Allahabad in straight sets also 3-0.
