Patna, Oct 19 (IANS) Bihar Chief Minister, Samrat Choudhary, on Monday set a target for 2030, saying that no person from Bihar should be compelled to migrate to another state solely to earn a livelihood through manual labour. He said that adequate employment opportunities would be created within the state.
He added that he would dedicate his life to fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a 'Developed India (Viksit Bharat)' and former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s vision of a 'Prosperous Bihar (Samriddh Bihar)'.
Making these remarks during a football event in his native district Munger, Choudhary, however, clarified that there would be no restrictions on young people moving elsewhere for better jobs, business opportunities or professional careers.
Choudhary made the remarks during a visit to Kahua village in the Sangrampur block of the Tarapur Assembly constituency on the ninth day of Navratri.
He attended the final match of an annual football tournament organised at the sports ground named after Vasuki Rai, the first MLA from the Tarapur region.
He presented trophies to the captains of the winning and runner-up teams and announced that a stadium would be constructed in every block of the Tarapur Assembly constituency to promote sports and provide better facilities for young athletes. Construction work is expected to begin within the next two months, he said.
The Chief Minister said the sports ground named after Vasuki Rai would provide local youth with opportunities to develop their sporting skills and help rural talent access a better platform.
Highlighting initiatives in the education sector, Choudhary said Bihar previously had only 272 colleges, while 211 new degree colleges were launched simultaneously across the state on July 15, 2026.
He also said 700 ‘Model Schools-cum-Saraswati Vidya Niketans’ had been established across Bihar.
These institutions provide online classes to help students prepare for competitive examinations, enabling those in rural areas to access expert guidance and better study resources without having to leave their localities.
According to villagers, the football tournament in Kahua has been organised every year since 1962.
Eight teams participated in this year's competition. In the final, TTC Manikpur defeated Patam to lift the trophy, while Patam finished as runners-up.
The final attracted considerable enthusiasm among local players and villagers, with both teams receiving recognition for their performances.
After the football event, Choudhary visited the Badrivishal Puja Pandal and a Durga temple in the Sangrampur block, where he offered prayers to Goddess Durga and wished for Bihar’s development, prosperity and the well-being of its people.
He reiterated that employment generation, education and sports development were essential to Bihar’s progress and said the government was committed to making the state self-reliant and prosperous.
