No Injection Cataract Surgery for the first time in Ludhiana at DMCH

Ludhiana, October 17, 2013: Department of Ophthalmology at DMCH has recently introduced the state-of-the art method of cataract removal using the latest 'Infiniti Phacoemulsification machine' for the first time in city, said Dr GS Bajwa (Professor & Head of Ophthalmology) 

Dr Sumeet Chopra, Associate Professor of Ophthalmology, mentioned that Topical Phako, which is No injection, No suture and No bandage cataract surgery has been introduced for the first time in Ludhiana at DMCH. Advantages for the patients are that painful injection is not given in the eye, and the patient can resume normal work on the same day. More than 600 cases have been done in DMCH through this new technique.   

Secretary of DMCH Managing Society- Prem Kumar Gupta said that the department is equipped with all the latest ultramodern equipments for managing all types of complicated cataracts. Phacoemulsification under topical anaesthesia with multi-focal Foldable IOL implantation, is now performed routinely at DMCH, informed Prem Kumar Gupta.
