Ludhiana, April 4, 2014: Senior Advocate HS Phoolka has said some rumours are being spread that he has withdrawn some cases against Sajjan Kumar. This is absolutely false and baseless. No case against Sajjan Kumar or the other accused has been withdrawn at all. In fact, the cases against Sajjan Kumar have been instituted and charge sheets filed by CBI and him cannot possibly withdraw any of those cases, he added in a statement issued here on Friday.
Further, he said the Sultanpuri case against Sajjan Kumar is presently going on in the Trial Court and the next date of hearing in the same is 14th April 2014 and 17th April 2014. The cross examination of Prosecution Witness No.1 is currently on by the Defense counsel and after his cross examination the cross examination of the other witnesses would proceed.   In the Delhi Cant. case, appeal being argued by him is pending in the High Court against the order of the Trial Court and the next date of hearing in the same is 28th May 2014.
Phoolka who is contesting as the AAP candidate from Ludhiana Lok Sabha seat, said these rumours are purposely being spread by Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal through his cronies. He added the press conference addressed by Surjit Singh from Ludhiana is absolutely unfounded as he has nothing to do with the cases of Sajjan Kumar, Tytler or any 1984 cases in Delhi. Surjit Singh has never participated in any of these cases in any way whatsoever, he said, adding Surjit Singh has never had any link with or anything to do with any of the cases all these years, as is apparent from the record itself. Now suddenly Surjit Singh wakes up claiming to be the representative of the victims, thus it is obvious that he is making these allegations at the behest of Sukhbir Badal for political mileage.
Phoolka said “this press conference was nothing but half baked information and a means to attract attention and an attempt to malign him, owing to his growing popularity in the city.”
Further providing the entire information about the cases he said as far as the case of Jagdish Tytler is concerned, ADJ Anuradha Shukla Bhardwaj had rejected the clean chit given by CBI and had directed CBI to conduct further investigation in the case and record statement of Alam Singh, Santokh Singh and Resham Singh. Jagdish Tytler has challenged this order in the High Court and the next date in this case is also 17th April 2014. The CBI has been trying to locate the address of Alam Singh, who is in USA and has shifted his address.
The other case against Jagdish Tytler was a defamation case filed by him (Phoolka) in Ludhiana and the Magistrate in Ludhiana had issued warrants against Tytler. Later this case was transferred by the Supreme Court to Delhi. That case is also currently pending in Patiala House court, revealed Phoolka.
Phoolka urged people in Ludhiana beware of such baseless rumours and to look through these dirty tricks being played by political opponents and go on facts instead and he said, “People know of my selfless work since 30 years. These attempts to mislead voters by lying to them will have no effect on people, who these politicians and their cronies consider naïve and ignorant.”
