NMDC organises Freedom Run 2026 in its operational locations, over 2,000 Runners participated

Hyderabad, August 16, 2026: As part of the NMDC Hyderabad Marathon 2026, NMDC, the Title Sponsor of the marathon, the Hyderabad based NMDC organised the NMDC Freedom Run 2026 across its operational locations in Karnataka and Chhattisgarh, in association with the Hyderabad Runners Society (HRS).
The initiative brought together NMDC employees, their families and members of the local communities to celebrate the spirit of freedom, fitness and community participation through a 5K run.
The Freedom Run was conducted at three NMDC locations, witnessing enthusiastic participation from over 2,000 runners:  Donnimalai, Karnataka –  700 runners; Bacheli, Chhattisgarh –  900 runners and Kirandul, Chhattisgarh –  450 runners
The initiative reflects NMDC’s commitment to promoting a culture of fitness and healthy living among its employees and the communities around its mining operations. The runs also provided an opportunity for people from different backgrounds and villages to come together through the shared spirit of running.
As a unique extension of the initiative, NMDC identified 130 runners from different villages who will get the opportunity to participate in the NMDC Hyderabad Marathon 2026. This initiative aims to take the experience of running beyond NMDC’s operational locations and connect communities from across the country to one of India’s leading city marathons.
Speaking on the initiative, Kodali Shridar project head Bacheli said, “The NMDC Freedom Run is an expression of our commitment to fitness, community engagement and inclusive participation. Through our association with the Hyderabad Runners Society and the NMDC Hyderabad Marathon, we are creating opportunities for our employees and communities to experience the joy and spirit of running. The participation of runners from different villages in the main marathon in Hyderabad makes this initiative especially meaningful.”

The NMDC Hyderabad Marathon 2026, the 15th edition of the iconic city marathon, will bring together thousands of runners on 29 and 30 August 2026 in Hyderabad.
Through the NMDC Freedom Run 2026, NMDC and HRS aim to strengthen the connection between fitness, community participation and the spirit of running, making the NMDC Hyderabad Marathon a truly inclusive celebration that extends beyond the city of Hyderabad.
