NIMA doctors attend CME-Session on Haematology & Haemato-Oncology

Ludhiana, November 20, 2016: More than 70 NIMA Ludhiana doctors, yesterday attended the Haemato-Oncology cme-session Held In Hotel-A.
Apart from Dr Surinder Gupta, Dr Satinder Kakar, Dr Inder Sharma, Dr Sarjivan Sharma, Dr Ranbir Singh, Dr Rahul Jain, Dr P.P.Singh, Dr Avtar Singh, Dr Navneet Saggar, Dr Sarbjit Singh, Dr Gurmeet Singh, Dr Amit Khanna & Dr Ashok Verma were present.
Initiating the discussion Dr Surinder Gupta said that family physicians should keep their patients free from Anaemia by De-worming them on regular basis. Because anaemic children or Adult patients need lot of hospitalisation and undue Medical Expenses. Similarly they should update their expertise to Diagnose blood cancers and other haematological disorders. Moreover Iron or Folic Acid & Vitamin B12 Supplentation can cure all types of anaemia patients.
Dr M joseph's john in his talk said that apart from Anemias, Punjab is struggling with Thalasemia, Haemophilia, thrombocytopenia and malignant Blood disorders include leukemia, Lymphomas.It's right time that primary level physicians should be updated to detect blood Pathological disorders and Tertiary care centers should have expertise to Cure or treat these lifethreatening conditions.
A patient with abnormal cell producing Bone marrow needs transplantation of healthy Stem Cells (some matching donor) to get rid of lifethreatening blood malignancy disorders. Stored stem cells of the cancer patient can also be used for bone marrow transplant after curing the blood cancer with chemotherapy.
Dr Naveen Kakkar through case slides, Discussed the interpretation of Complete Blood Count (CBC)report. Diagnosis of Thelasemia, Aplastic Anaemia, Leukemia and other blood cancers was explained in a very simple way.
The talk was well received by the audience and was followed by a question answer session. Dr Ranbir Singh presented vote of thanks.
